Magnet Paint Dark Grey 500ml

The Magnet Paint is a water-based latex paint, easy to apply and safe to use. The fine metal particles in the paint make the paint magnetic. It is a dark grey colour (approximately RAL 7015), but you can use it invisibly as a primer, and paint over the top with any colour. MagnetPaint can be used on wood and plastic as well. You can also pair MagnetPaint with Blackboard Paint or SketchPaint Whiteboard paint for a writable magnetic surface.

Also available in 250ml and 1L

Magnet Paint Dark Grey 500ml Usage Instructions

We recommend always following the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. It is recommended that a small test area is applied before treating the entire surface to ensure compatibility.

  • Ensure the product is thoroughly stirred before and during the application, you might need a paint mixer due to the settling of the heavy magnetic component..
  • MagnetPaint can be applied with a long or short-haired roller for water-based wall paints. Or, when diluted with 20% water, it can be applied using Wagner XVLP spray technology.
  • Apply MagnetPaint to the surface in small patches at a time, creating a smooth and even layer. Apply more MagnetPaint to your roller and repeat on a new patch until the entire surface is covered with a uniform layer of MagnetPaint.
  • Lightly scuff up with a scouring pad in between every layer and brush off the dust. Do not use a wet cloth to remove dust.
  • Allow 4 hours between coats.
  • Let MagnetPaint dry for at least 12 hours before applying a finish layer.
  • MagnetPaint should be properly dried before it is coated with a finishing coat.
  • For an extra smooth result, the last layer can be applied heavily and smoothened with a putty knife, then sanded smooth after drying.
  • More layers increase the magnetic strength.
  • Wrap your roller or brush in household foil during the drying break.

Note: 24 hours after it is applied, MagnetPaint can be loaded with magnets. How much you can hang on the wall with a magnet depends not only on the amount of layers but also on the strength of the magnets. Also, the weight and thickness of the object play a role. The theoretical pulling force needed to remove a 029 mm Neodymium magnet from a fully applied system according to consumption is approx. 2400 N/m
