Colron Wax Remover Instructions
Removing the finish back to the bare wood:
- Wearing suitable gloves, pour a small amount of the liquid into a wide mouthed jar and dip a small piece of Medium grade (Grade 000) Steel Wool into the liquid.
- Start rubbing a generous amount in the direction of the grain working on about 1 sq foot at a time. The finish will become 'sticky' and dirty as it dissolves the old finish.
- Keep applying more liquid, rubbing gently.
- When the finish is fully dissolved, wipe it off with a clean cloth.
- Now take a clean piece of Medium grade (grade 000) steel wool dipped in fresh Colron Wax Remover, and wipe over the entire surface to remove lap marks.
- Leave to dry thoroughly, and finish off by rubbing briskly with clean dry Medium grade (grade 000) steel wool.
- Remove the dust with a clean cloth and you are ready to apply a finish.
Removing wax and oil build up, leaving the old finish intact:
To remove a build up of old wax or oil from a sound varnished or French polished surface without stripping back to the bare wood, follow these directions.
- Apply the liquid to a clean cloth or to fine grade (Grade 0000) steel wool.
- Rub soaked cloth or steel wool gently over the surface. The old wax and oil will now dissolve away.
- Wipe off with a clean cloth leaving the surface finish intact.
