Rustins French Polish is suitable for French Polishing light and dark wood when a light to medium brown tone is required and for sealing wood before waxing. When applied correctly, Rustins French Polish will produce a high gloss finish. The alcohol in Rustins French Polish evaporates quickly leaving a film of shellac on the timber's surface.
Type: Flake shellac dissolved in alcohol.
Intended Use: Suitable for French Polishing all dark and light coloured woods, when a light to medium brown tone is required. Suitable for sealing wood before waxing.
Special Features: When applied correctly will produce a high gloss finish. Alcohol evaporates rapidly leaving a film of shellac on the surface of the timber.

Rustins French Polish Usage Instructions
Preparation: Wood should be clean and smooth. If grain is open, fill with Rustins Grain Filler. Furniture that is to be renovated should be cleaned with White Spirit and fine wire wool to ensure that it is free from grease and wax.
Application: Apply with a rubber made by wrapping a piece of cotton wool in a cotton or linen rag the size of a handkerchief. Pour polish into rubber and squeeze out excess, dab a spot of linseed oil on the rubber, and work in a circle of eight motion. For sealing wood before waxing, apply with a brush or rag.
Coats: For French Polishing, apply as many coats as required to build a sufficient layer of shellac. For sealing wood before waxing, apply 2 liberal coats.
Drying Time: Leave 24 hours after last coat to harden.
Re-coating Time: 4-6 hours
Application Temp: Use in a warm, dry atmosphere, ideally 15- 25ºC
Maintenance: Wipe with damp cloth. Greasy or dirty surfaces should be cleaned with a mild non abrasive liquid detergent. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents. Wax polishes may be used.
Compatibility: Wood may be dyed with Rustins Wood Dye prior to sealing with Rustins French Polish.
Settlement: SHAKE THOROUGHLY BEFORE USE.
Clean-Up: Clean equipment whilst wet with Rustins Methylated Spirits.
